Inspired by Shakespeare's Ophelia and the Pre-Raphaelite paintings of John William Waterhouse, this pattern explores themes of melancholy, beauty, and decay.
I combined elements of a drowned woman, swamp vegetation, wildflowers, and oversized mosquitoes into a single decorative composition. My goal was to capture the stillness and quiet sadness associated with Ophelia while creating a pattern that feels immersive and alive.
One of the main challenges was integrating the woman's hands into the design in a way that felt fluid and organic, allowing them to emerge naturally from the surrounding landscape rather than appear as separate elements.
